We like to make sure your bills are as accurate as possible so you’re only ever getting billed for the energy you’re really using. That’s why we send email reminders to take meter readings every month, unless you have a smart meter we’re able to read automatically.
Do I have to submit meter readings with smart meter Scottish Power?
Your SP account is only as up to date as the most recent Bill. Sometimes they ask for manual readings to be sent in, but it is not unusual and can be for a number of reasons, so just go ahead and do it. After a while the smart meter should settle-in and not need any manual readings.

Why is my smart meter showing waiting for data?
Your In-Home Display uses a wireless signal to receive energy usage information from your smart meters. If your In-Home Display shows Waiting for data, it could be because it’s too far away from your smart meter. Try moving your In-Home Display closer to your electricity smart meter.
Will my Scottish Power smart meter work with another supplier?
Hi @Chrissyw, Yes you will be able to change suppliers as normal the smart meter will not effect this. Your smart meter will continue to give you the correct readings, it may lose it’s smart functionality when you move to another supplier until the smart meter data communications company is up and running.
How do I read my Scottish Power smart meter?
Simply write down the numbers from left to right, including any leading zeros but ignoring any numbers in red or which come after the decimal point. So if your meter looks like this, your meter reading is 3715.
