LUT stands for “look-up table.” A LUT is a tool that lets filmmakers, editors, and colorists save particular color grades as a template. Think of a LUT as a color preset that a filmmaker can readily turn to when working on a project.

In other words, a LUT is a conduit/code to transform colour (RGB) input values from your camera to different colour (RGB) output values to give your final footage a different look or feel. You can think of LUTs as preset colour looks for your video footage that can help to speed up your editing process.

Any “flat” looking image can benefit with the right LUT applied.
Why LUT is required?
An exporter furnishing LUT’s is required to furnish fresh LUT for each financial year. If the conditions mentioned in LUT are not satisfied within the time-limit, the privileges are revoked and the exporter will have to furnish bonds.
Should I use LUTs?
LUTs are best avoided as part of the final creative color grading process.Often the production LUT was actually created by the colorist during pre-production, so it should be possible for the colorist to go back and re-open that file and get the grading data that was used to make the LUT in the first place.
When should a LUT be filed?
You need to submit a new LUT for each financial year. If the goods for export are not exported within three months of Date of Invoice issue, then the Exporter is liable to pay GST along with 18% interest within 15 days according to Section 50 (1).
Which LUT should I use?
Which one is good for you? You should use a LUT designed for the footage you have for the style that you want. If you shot in Protune on a GoPro, get a LUT designed for Protune footage. Also, pick a LUT made to achieve the style you’re trying to achieve.

What is a LUT filter?
