The UK changed the standard wire colours in 2004: The live Red becomes Brown. The Neutral Black becomes Blue. The Earth wires continue to be Green and yellow.
Is a blue wire the same as black?
A blue wire may be connected to a negative terminal of the power source. There is something but. A blue wire should be connected to a positive terminal and a black wire should be connected to a negative terminal in a two wire system.
