Safety. The manufacturer states on Krytox tubes, “May cause mild skin and eye irritation. Contact with very hot surfaces (above 500°F/260°C) can generate fumes which can cause coughing or respiratory irritation. Large amounts could lead to lung damage which might not be apparent for several hours.
Is Krytox Lube safe?
Krytox Lubricants for Aerospace Applications
Krytox 143 series oils are clear, colorless, fluorinated synthetic oils that are non-reactive, nonflammable, safe in chemical and oxygen service, and are long lasting.
Is Krytox 205g0 safe?
Chemically inert and safe for use around hazardous chemicals, these lubricants are nonflammable and also safe for use in oxygen service. Krytox™ oils and greases do not damage plastics or elastomers, nor cause corrosion to metals.
Does Krytox contain silicone?
No. Krytox™ oils and greases do not contain any silicones, and no silicone is used in the manufacturing process.
What is Krytox lube made of?
Krytox™ oils are made from only fluorine, carbon, and oxygen—a mixture of compounds collectively known by many names—including PFPE, perfluoroalkylether (PFAE), and perfluoropolyalkylether (PFPAE) .
Is Krytox food grade grease?
Krytox™ lubricants comply fully with USDA performance standards for designated uses. These lubricant products are not intended to be used as direct food additives.
What lubricant can be used with oxygen?
In contrast, Krytox™ oils and greases are nonflammable, chemically inert, thermally stable, and safe for use in all areas of oxygen service. These properties have made Krytox™ the lubricant of choice for oxygen and reactive gas service for more than 40 years.
Is Krytox conductive?
Krytox™ oils provide long life and high-temperature stability and lubrication. The Krytox™ GPL 246 grease at 40 °C (104 °F) has conductivity of 0.272 watts/m°K. Because Krytox™ GPL 246 is formulated with our Krytox™ GPL 106 base oil, it retains many of the properties of that oil.
What kind of lube is Krytox?
A Lubricant for Any Application
Krytox™ GPL greases are synthetic perfluoropolyether- (PFPE-) based oil, thickened with polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) powder to create a white, nontoxic grease that provides excellent lubrication in demanding applications.
Can you use Krytox on stabilizers?
Krytox XTH-BDZ (Grease)
This is what makes the XTH-BDZ special, it excels at lubing stabs, but is unsuited to lube switches, springs, and other components. We recommend applying Krytox XTH-BDZ on: Stabilizers.
Is Krytox soluble in water?
Krytox™ oils and greases are completely insoluble in water. These fluorinated solvents will not react with PFPE oils, but the oils will be carried away from the lubricating point. PFPEs are freely soluble in supercritical CO2.
How do you clean Krytox?
Boiling. An equally effective process is to simply leave Krytox™-covered parts in the boil sump with boiling NEXT 3000. In this environment, the Krytox™ lubricant will eventually dissolve completely. While this process may take longer, it may also be an easier solution for cleaning intricate parts.
Why does Krytox cost so much?
Krytox has a giant MOQ, so it can get up there in price for people who stock it (plus distribution rights).
Is Krytox water resistant?
Extreme temperature performance: Lubricants will not break down in the high temperatures of electric motor applications (can operate in a temperature range of -75 to 350 °C [-103 to 662 °F]). Optimal stability: Krytox™ lubricants are water-resistant, nonflammable, and chemically inert.
Does Krytox evaporate?
Krytox XHT-BD greases are for use in low speed bearings or in pillow housings and will shear at high speeds, causing loss of oil in sealed bearings. The oil in the grease can begin to slowly evaporate at temperatures above 330 °C (626 °F), and this will occur at an increasing rate as temperatures increase.
What is krytox 205g0?
Krytox GPL 205 grade 0 is a high performance grease that is extensively utilized to lubricate mechanical keyboard switches, controller components and joysticks. Due to the viscosity of the grease, GPL 205 is recommended for linear-switches and Topre.
Is silicone grease safe for oxygen?
Protect and condition O-rings, valve systems and regulator components on all dive gear with quality food grade (non-edible) silicone grease. When you need to protect against moisture and degradation, reach for Silicone Grease for a better seal and longer gear life. Available in 1/4 oz. Not for O2 applications!
Can you use chapstick if you are on oxygen?
DO NOT use petroleum-based ointments or lotions in or around your nose, such as Vaseline, Vicks, Chapstick, etc. Oxygen can react violently with these oily substances and can cause burns.Take care to avoid open flames while using oxygen.
What can I use for dry nose when on oxygen?
Alleviate Dry Nose with a Lubricant
Surgilube® is a water-based lubricant that is safe to use on mucous membranes and can help keep your nasal passages moist and re-hydrate irritated skin by adding moisture to the affected area.
Is krytox a dielectric?
Krytox™ perfluoropolyether (PFPE) oils with no additives are good insulators. The typical dielectric properties are shown in the table. There is no difference in the electrical properties of different grades of oils, as their chemical properties are identical, and the primary difference is viscosity.
Is krytox 205g0 conductive?
Krytox is non conductive, you didn’t say exactly which grease you used or where but dialectric grease usually isn’t conductive either, so getting a bit of that on the PCB shouldn’t be a problem.
