How do you use a rubber core sinker?
It’s reusable and quick & easy to use: simply pinch it around the line! When the tabs are twisted in opposite directions, the line is wrapped around the rubber core. To release, just twist the tabs in reverse. The rubber core prevents nicks to the line.
What does it mean to peg your weight?
By pegging the sinker to the plastic bait, it insures that your lure will glide across the surface with the streamlined nose section of the bullet weight leading the way. A pegged weight also allows you to deliver a compact Texas-rigged bait through the tangles of flooded buck brush.
How do bullet weights work?
A bullet weight, or what is commonly referred to as a worm weight, allows your soft plastic baits to easily penetrate through vegetation while sinking through the water column. Made from lead or tungsten, a worm weight slides onto your fishing line prior to tying on a worm hook.
How do I know what size sinker to use?
In general, you should use a lighter weight sinker in shallower water, and deeper water requires heavier weight. For shallow water, a ⅛-ounce weight works well to create a slow-falling lure action. In deeper water that is up to 20 feet, it’s best to use between ¼ to ⅜-ounce sinker weights.
How far should the weight be from the hook?
Depending on the depth, the distance from the hook to the weight needs to be adjusted. For shallower water, it is recommended to place your hook three to six inches above the weight. For deeper water, the hook can be adjusted to nine inches from the weight to no more than a foot and a half because of the leverage.
Do it weighted hooks?
Their geometrical design creates a weighted hook that runs true and gives a great balance with the plastic bait you chose. The design maximizes hook setting power. You can use a weighted wide gap worm hook or you can use a jig hook with a hitch hiker to hold your bait.
What is a fishing peg?
Peg: A peg is a pre defined fishing area. Venues are split up into evenly spaced fishing zones which are often marked with a wooden peg or marker. Quiver tip: A special type of rod used to detect bites when ledgering. It has a sensitive tip that curves over when the angler has a bite.
When should I peg my Texas rig?
Pegging the weight on a Texas Rig is a great method in and around cover but if you’re fishing an open bottom or around docks and wood, you can’t beat the slow falling action of an unpegged rig.
What is a bobber stop?
Bobber stops are small pieces of string, rubber, or plastic that you tie or thread onto your fishing line in order to set the depth for your slip bobber. To change depth, you simply slide the bobber stop either further up your line to fish deeper, or down your line to fish higher up in the water.
What is a dropshot rig?
A drop shot rig consists of line tied to a hook with a trailing leader that comes to an end with a weight so that the weight is at the bottom and the hook and bait are above it.
