A virtual machine is a computer within a computer. The only thing it really does is provide a virtual boundary between the host operating system and the guest operating system. It does absolutely nothing to hide your IP address. What will hide your IP address, however, is a Virtual Private Network (VPN).
Do virtual machines hide your IP?
Because a virtual machine is isolated from your host computer, you might think that it’s more secure. But keep in mind that having a VM is like having a second computer.Using a virtual machine to browse the Internet doesn’t mask your IP address or automatically shield you from threats.
Can IP be tracked on virtual machine?
Yes using a browser in a VM will give different indicators such as User-Agent and Fingerprint, but that’s just another set of tracking variables. It’s extremely difficult to configure your own browser for privacy.
Does virtualbox hide your IP address?
You can’t hide your IP with a VM. Your IP is assigned to your router’s connection by your Internet Provider, and all the PCs (and VMs) in your home share that IP if they use that router.
Does a virtual machine change your IP address?
Your virtual machines will get the same IP address from any DHCP service as long as they have the same Ethernet MAC address (a hardware address, unique like a fingerprint, set by the hardware manufacturer of your network device).
Can my ISP see what I do on a virtual machine?
This is very similar to what happens if you have more than one physical computer: your ISP cannot generally tell which is making the connection. The rule of thumb is that virtual machines behave just as if you had multiple, different, real computers.
Is a virtual machine like a VPN?
VPN always works system-wide, that means that all running applications automatically use the VPN connection. This way you can easily choose which applications should to use the VPN connection and which should use your normal internet connection.

Are virtual machines untraceable?
Absolutely nothing is “completely untraceable.” You can hide your identity with proxies, tor, VPN etc.. but it is still very easy to out yourself. If you use bridge, the MAC of the virtual machine will be sent to the local network, but not on the Internet (like every MAC: real, virtual or faked).
What is the IP of a virtual machine?
A VM has one primary IP address per network adapter. The primary IP address is assigned to the VM by the automatic or manual network it’s attached to. Use the primary IP to access the VM from other machines connected to the same network. See Editing a VM hostname or primary IP address.
Can two machines have same IP?
As I understand it, two computers cannot have the same public (external) IP address unless they are connected via the same router. If they are connected via the same router, then they can have (share) the same public IP address yet have different private (local) IP addresses.

VMs can have one IP address, public or private. VMs can even have more than one IP address. But they can also be configured with no IP address, which isn’t nearly as useful, but it’s still possible. Short answer: yes, as any regular computer would.
What is promiscuous mode in virtualbox?
The promiscuous mode makes it possible for a physical network adapter to have multiple MAC addresses, allowing all incoming traffic to pass the physical network adapter of the host machine and reach the virtual network adapter of the VM which has its own MAC address that is represented on the host adapter, even if that
Do virtual machines have their own MAC address?
A MAC address is the unique address assigned to each Ethernet network device. The software guarantees that virtual machines are assigned unique MAC addresses within a given host system.
What does ISP see when using VPN?

Your device’s IP address, the websites you visit, and your location are all undetectable. The only thing that your ISP can see when you’re using a VPN is encrypted data traveling to a remote server.
