The Ring Alarm base station can connect to your home network using either Wi-Fi or hardwired ethernet. You can also disarm the system from the app, but in a break from convention, Ring does not offer a key fob for arming and disarming the system.

The Ring Keypad uses a USB to wall adapter for its power, so we simply plugged in the device to connect it to the system. As with the other devices, we identified the keypad’s location and gave it a name for easy identification.

Answer: No. If your Ring Video Doorbell 2 is hardwired to an existing doorbell, that will keep it charged. If your Ring Video Doorbell 2 is not hardwired, the battery will need to be periodically recharged.
Can I use a ring camera without a base station?

Can I move my ring base station?
Ring Alarm devices are locked to the base station with which they’re first set up, and cannot be added to a Location without a base station or transferred between base stations at different Locations. Can I move a device between Locations? You can move a camera or doorbell between any Location.
Can the ring base station be used as a chime?
Ring Chime does not connect with the base station, so these alerts are not possible.
How do you power cycle a ring Base Station?
Always shut down the router first and reboot the router before the Base Station.
- Unplug the router and also remove the cable connection.
- Reset the Ring Base Station.
- Once the Base Station is reset, unplug it.
- After five minutes, reconnect the cable to the back of the router and plug it back in.
