They are completely different. The EPS connector is meant to supply power to a motherboard cpu socket while the PCI express connector is meant to supply power to a GPU.
Can CPU cables be used for GPU?
The purpose of this cable is to enable an *unused* CPU power cable to power a GPU. It adapts the pinout of a spare 8-pin CPU power cable (EPS 12V) to that which can be used to power a GPU. This works well for people using dual power supply mining rigs.
Can you use a 8 pin CPU cable for GPU?
You cannot, however, use any 8-pin PCI-E cable to power the motherboard. These cables are solely used to power graphics cards which are plugged into a PCI-E slot. As with the ARX-12V cable, it is possible for your power supply to have more than one such cable and some video cards will require two of them.
Is CPU cable and PCIe cable same?
Yes, as they both provide 12 V. Also You can see it on description of those ports, if they have common description of “CPU/PCI-e” then You are sure that there will be no problem. As You can see in above photo those ports are interchangeable and have the same connector outlay.
Can you use CPU power cable for PCIe?
Nothing. Literally nothing, your PC will not even power up. But if you have Gigabyte PSU it might explode! For start I really do not understand why GPU and CPU, both having 12V connectors, have different connectors!
Can I use SATA cable for GPU?
There are 2 extra male sata power connectors available in the system which could be adapted to a PCIe 6pin power connector using an adapter such as this one on Amazon. This would only be needed to supplement the 75W that the PCIe x16 slot can provide and enable the gpu to be recognized.
What cables are needed for GPU?
Adapters Or Converters For Connectors
- 4-Pin Molex to 6-Pin PCI-E Adapter Cable.
- 4-Pin Molex to 8-Pin PCI-E Power Adapter Cable.
- 6-Pin to 8-Pin PCI-E Adapter Cable.
- 2x 8-Pin To 12-Pin PCI-E Adapter Cable.
- SATA to 6-Pin PCI-E Adapter Cable.
- SATA to 8-Pin PCI-E Adapter Cable.
Is 8 pin enough for CPU?
The 8 pin is more than enough for running the system. You’re totally fine without it. If you’re upgrading to a RTX 3070 or 3080 and a Ryzen 5600X your 650 Watts should be enough since it’s a good model.
Can you use Corsair CPU cable GPU?
Prominent. Wherever the psu has 8pin you can connect the cpu and gpu. The side of the cable which has white letters saying ‘CPU’ and ‘PCI-E’ are the ones that go to the cpu and gpu accordingly. The other side goes to the psu in any 8pin socket.
Can you use PCIe cable for GPU?
The principle behind using a single PCIe cable for a graphics card still applies for models requiring more than two connectors, like the EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 Ultra. Check your PSU to see if separate cables are recommended; if not, just make sure you’re not surpassing how much power a single cable can provide.
Are CPU and PCIe cables the same Corsair?
So the Corsair RMX 850W Gold has a total of 5 8-pin ports on the back and none of them are specific to CPU vs Pcie cables. You can plug a CPU cable or a PCIE cable in any of the 8-pin ports of this PSU.
Can you use a 6 pin on a 8 pin motherboard?
These power connectors are usually designed to use 6/8-pin PCIe power connectors (8-pin EPS 12V CPU power won’t work, unless the motherboard is designed to use it instead of a PCIe power connector).
Can 8 pin CPU use 6-pin?
Yes, it is compatible.
Is it safe to use SATA to 8 pin?
Its generally not a safe way to get the amperage to the unit. Adapters are typically never a good choice, SATA and Molex are the two worst to use.
Is it safe to use 2 Molex to 6-pin?
not really no. If it doesn’t come with a 6-pin, it can’t properly provide the power a 6-pin needs.
Do motherboards come with GPU cables?
So you may ask do motherboards come with cables for connecting the rest of the PC components? Simply put though, yes motherboards do come with cables but not all that are needed to run your PC.
Can you run a graphics card without a 6 pin?
Your card should be able to run faster if you plug in the connector. if it CAN run without the 6 pin, it’s likely doing so at a very throttled rate.
Do all GPU need power?
Well, all computers need a power supply and graphics cards are part of a computer, so in some sense the answer is yes. If however you mean do all graphics cards need additional 6 or 8 pin power cables from the power supply the answer is no. The card can draw about 75 Watts of power from the PCIe card slot.
Does 5800X need 8pin?
Is an 8-pin CPU power cable enough for a Ryzen 5800X? – Quora. Yes, unless you want to overclock it heavily. At stock settings a Ryzen 7 5800X only uses up to about 110W of power (under very heavy multi-core AVX workloads), or closer to 120W with PBO enabled.
Is my motherboard getting enough power?
If the monitor is flashing or displaying dots and lines when it shouldn’t be, the computer may not be getting enough power from the power supply unit. The insufficient power can cause the CPU and graphics card to render screen displays inconsistently. This is particularly common in multi-monitor setups.
Is the motherboard?
The motherboard is the backbone that ties the computer’s components together at one spot and allows them to talk to each other. Without it, none of the computer pieces, such as the CPU, GPU, or hard drive, could interact. Total motherboard functionality is necessary for a computer to work well.
