Will Marine-Tex stick to epoxy?
The reason is that gelcoat is polyester and marine tex is epoxy. Epoxy will stick to gelcoat, but gelcoat will not stick to epoxy. Go with gelcoat as long as the gouges are no deeper than the cloth or matt. If they are deeper than that, fill them with polyester putty first, let it cure, then add the gelcoat.

When you apply the marine tex, fair it as best you can, and you can really minimize sanding. That stuff is very tough to sand, and is often harder than surrounding material (Gelcoat) meaning that if you aggressively sand it the marinetex will stand proud leaving the surrounding material low.
How do you fix deep scratches on a boat?
Fill any deep gouges and spend your time sanding out scratches while the filler sets up. Apply gel coat to the filled gouges and finish to the scratches and then final-sand the filled gouges. Buff all the repaired areas and then the rest of the boat. Apply any graphics to finish up.

How do you color Milliput?
Milliput will set under water and is heat resistant up to 130°C. Mix together equal parts of each stick from the pack. Knead and roll in the hands for at least 5 minutes until the colours merge and become uniform and no streaks can be seen, and then mix for another minute.
