First, we air shipped 80 units to Kickstarter backers who opted for an early ship option from a survey we sent out last month. Since then, these units made it from China to our warehouse in Oakland, Calif.

Is the Stagg kettle non toxic?
Many electric kettles contain plastic interior parts that can leach chemicals into our water.No plastic comes in touch with the boiling water in the Fellow Stagg kettle. The only non-metallic component that does is the food-grade silicone gasket needed to seal the electronics from the thermometer.

At 6 minutes, 38 seconds the Fellow is quite slow to achieve a boil. Interestingly, the kettle reaches ~199° F in 5 minutes, 30 seconds but requires another minute to make the remaining few degrees. This may be a measure to ensure that the water is not over-heated.
