Base Station: The base station is the heart of your system and connects your Ring Alarm security devices to all your Ring Video Doorbells, Security Cameras, and other smart devices. The base station monitors the secure sensors in your home in order to trigger burglar or fire alarms.
Where should a ring base station be placed?
Place it on a flat surface or mount it on a wall (screws and anchors are not included). Make sure it’s in a spot that gets great wifi reception or near your router if you want to use an Ethernet connection. Install in an area where the siren is best heard throughout the location.
What happens if ring base station is unplugged?
Your Base Station includes a battery backup that allows your system to keep working if the power goes out or your base station is accidentally unplugged.After fifteen minutes, the Base Station will continue to monitor your sensors and send alarm signals but will shut off any other features to preserve battery life.
Can I just buy a ring base station?
Ring Alarm Pro Base Station is sold separately, so you can customize your entire security system. Additional Contact Sensors, Motion Detectors, Keypads, Range Extenders and future Ring Alarm components can be purchased separately to expand the coverage of both systems.
Does ring doorbell chime through base station?
Ring Chime does not connect with the base station, so these alerts are not possible.
Does ring base station need to be connected to router?
You can’t. The Base Station can only be connected to the Internet through an Ethernet Cable or via a 2.4 or 5 GHz wifi connection. If you are connected to a wifi connection, the connection and your credentials will be removed as a security feature if you plug in an Ethernet cable.
