Generic solutions are safe and FDA approved, but formulations may change from time to time depending on the supplier and manufacturer. The product may not always be the same exact solution every time you buy it.
Is generic contact solution OK?
Generics are older formula concentrations that are high in preservative count and low in moisturizers. They will kill bacteria, so generics are not a health risk to your contact lenses. Preservatives are great at killing microorganisms, but they also are very toxic to your cornea.
Can I use a different brand of contact solution?
Multipurpose solutions are a very safe and effective disinfection method when properly used. Many name brands and store/warehouse brands of multipurpose solutions exist. Is there a difference between generic and name brand contact solution?
Both boxes are designed similar. However, the brand name one has more of “updated” ingredients vs the generic one which has “outdated” ingredients.
What happens if you use wrong contact solution?
If you happen to accidentally put hydrogen peroxide solution directly into your eye, it will cause a significant burning sensation and can even be quite painful. Remove the lens immediately and flush your eye with sterile saline.
What is generic contact?
