How much black powder do I need for a cannon?
There is no hard and fast rule, but typically, you would use 25% of the projectile weight for Goex cannon grade or 2FA. You can use less, down to 10%, if range is not your concern and you just want noise and smoke. The British 68 pound naval cannon used a 16 pound charge, though it was proofed to 25 pounds.
Are cannons NFA items?
