Do I need to wash resin miniatures?
It really depends on the mould release that’s been used. If the parts feel slick or look glossy then you need to wash. If they’re thoroughly matte then you might be okay not washing. I always wash my FW/resin models.
How do I make a resin model?
You will need some warm tap water and a mild abrasive cleaner, such as washing-up liquid, don’t use any bleach. Simply place the parts into the soapy water and leave them to soak for 5-10 minutes, then thoroughly scrub each part with an old toothbrush. When finished dry each component.
What resin should I use for molds?
Casting epoxy
Casting epoxy has a much lower viscosity than its laminate counterpart, meaning that its consistency is thinner and can therefore be poured with great ease. Thus, this type of resin is ideal for pouring into molds, as the fluidity of the liquid allows it to reach and fill small gaps and holes.
Are resin models good?
Well, the one main and underlying factor when using resin is that it can hold a lot of detail. For the professional painters out there, this is absolutely huge and gives them the chance to create some truly stunning characters and designs.Resin is highly toxic when inhaled so do be extra careful.
How do you protect resin minis?

Does green stuff stick to resin?
Green Stuff can be applied to plastic, resin and metal miniatures and then moulded into shape. When fully cured, it is solid enough to glue other components to whilst retaining a degree of flexibility, giving it elastic qualities.
What glue do you use for resin models?
The best glue for resin miniatures is super glue.
The flexible nature of resin, however, does make super glue less useful on thin or small resin parts. For a strong bond with resin miniatures, two-part epoxy adhesive will be the better choice.
Does resin break easily?
If you are talking about epoxy or polyurethane resin, the answer is no. They are tough and can withstand a lot of mishandling, but they can be broken, chipped, or cracked.
What are resin miniatures?
Resin is something like plastic but allows for more detail in the model than plastic. Like metal, resin needs to prep work. More excess resin needs to be removed and the models need to be washed before you can prime them.
What metal is used for miniatures?
Traditionally, miniatures were cast in white metal, an alloy of lead and tin. A small amount of antimony was sometimes added to improve the alloy’s ability to take fine detail.
How do I make pewter flow better?
No matter what type of mold you use, air vents are a must. Metal will flow downwards and air will bubble up, so make sure to add air vents wherever there is an isolated high point in the model (when oriented as it will be filled). Good venting will always improve how well a model fills with pewter.
